Our Philosophy
What we believe
The concept of Nature and Growth informs our Philosophy. Just as there is a complex interrelationship between the earth, sky, clouds and living things. We believe that children are dependent on support and guidance, so they can develop and have nurtured their own abilities, interests and strengths.
We recognise the family is the child’s first teacher and the most important influence in the learning and development of young children. Working in partnership with families is central to ensuring continuity and progression in a child’s learning, development and future success. We strive to develop respectful and meaningful connections with families that are always non-judgmental, caring, warm, inclusive, open and honest. Successful partnerships with families underpin belonging, being and becoming in children. (SUN)
Kid’n Around EEC’s environment is a place of safety, stimulation, challenge, play, learning and interactions with the natural environment. Our environments stimulate development and allow children, families and educators to master skills and processes, investigate, have fun, explore, create, discover, imagine while fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride. Our environments show respect for the environment through inclusion of sustainable practices and promote social responsibility. We believe that children learn through play and interactions within their environment and other others. Play is like air to children- they can-not thrive, develop or learn without it. (SKY-AIR)
Our program is guided by the children’s interests, the principals and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Framework, the National Law and Regulations. We recognize that learning is a lifelong skill and educators use comprehensive knowledge of the approved learning frameworks and a range of childhood theorists to guide children’s individual learning so that can achieve their best at a rate that is right for them. Children are always preparing for the next stage in their development and we use daily critical reflection to facilitate our pedological judgements to prepare children to transition to school. (CLOUDS)
Educators build collaborative relationships based on honesty and trust, recognizing that constructive communication underpins teamwork. We nurture, show compassion and encourage our team and community allowing everyone’s uniqueness to shine. (WATER CANS)
We facilitate learning about our local community and encourage children to make valuable contributions to the wider community. Each day we acknowledge the traditional land owners, the Dharawal Aboriginal people, their language and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people psat and present in the community. (BIRDS)
We understand that children learn and develop in different ways and rates and recognize that all areas of learning are overlapping creating a holistic child. Each child is capable when they are given tactile and sensory experiences where they can touch, move, listen and observe the world around them. We give children respect, trust, credit, allow them to take risks and challenge themselves role modelling concepts of kindness, respect and compassion. We facilitate child directed learning through intentional teaching, hypothesizing, open ended questioning and provocations. We celebrate the uniqueness of each child, family and educator and use their values, interests, cultures and abilities as the foundation of our teachings. (ROOTS AND FLOWERS)
We are a service of excellence and are active in our involvement within our community. We advocate for early childhood education, high quality practices and community understanding of how children learn. We value community involvement in all aspects of our program.
We recognise and respect all individuals with rights and culture and allow them to be involved and included in an environment free from sterotypes, discrimination and judgements.
Our curriculum is supported by child development theorists such as Piaget, Vygotsky and Erikson. We trust you will enjoy your learning journey at Kid’n Around Early Education Centre.
